Foreclosure Crisis
The home foreclosure crisis has devastated many Nevadan families. To prevent a deeper crisis Senator Lee has worked with other law makers on solutions which have slowed down the crisis and helped thousands of Nevadans.
The national home foreclosure crisis hit Nevada disproportionately hard and continues to be a drag on our economy. Home values have plummeted, neighborhoods are being abandoned and high unemployment rates only compound the problem. John has provided leadership and supported a number of initiatives to help solve the home foreclosure crisis.
Bringing banks to the table:
John was a proud champion of Assembly Bill 149, which created the Foreclosure Mediation Program to directly address the home foreclosure crisis and keep families in their homes and the program is responsible for helping thousands of Nevadan families stay in their homes.
Protecting home owners and punishing offending banks:
As the home foreclosure crisis continued, John fought to help stop the crisis by punishing banks engaged in illegal foreclose practices. Since becoming law in October 2011, Assembly Bill 284 has resulted in a 88% decrease in home foreclosure filings. John not only fights for Nevadans he gets things done for Nevadans.
Although these programs and legislative initiatives John helped create have ensured thousands of Nevadans could stay in their homes, John believes more needs to be done to end the home foreclosure crisis.
